Shuai Shao’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecution of utility and design patents, intellectual property licensing, and patent analysis.


Shuai has a strong technical background in electronic engineering. He obtained his master’s degree from Åbo Akademi University. His research focused on embedded system design and modeling. He has experience in designing and implementing application specific embedded systems that can be employed in a smart space.


Before joining Bayes PLLC, Shuai has worked for SZ DJI Technology Co., Ltd. in China as a patent engineer. In DJI, Shuai was mainly responsible for drafting and applying for utility and design patents worldwide, and performing detailed analysis on patents for both offensive and defensive purposes. He has extensive experience dealing with operating companies, NPEs, and SEP patent pools, including analyzing their patent portfolios, negotiating favorable license terms, and leading technical analysis on both infringement and validity fronts. Shuai also prosecuted patent applications before the USPTO, SIPO, and EPO in cutting-edge technical fields, such as medical imaging, image compression, drones, telecommunication, and neutral network. He is an active R user in patent text mining and patent data visualization.
